pixelSUPPORT THE EDUCATION JOBS FUND IN H.R 4899: SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT OF 2010
Posted by Admin on Sunday, June 06, 2010 - 01:13 AM

CAPOUSD NewsThe House of Representatives is considering an appropriations bill that includes $23 billion in emergency support to local school districts to prevent impending layoffs.

Because of catastrophic budget cuts for the 2010-2011 school year, CUSD has been forced to give layoff notices to 300 teachers, nurses, instructional assistants, and other classified staff.

The emergency support contained in the House appropriations bill will make a huge difference for our children in CUSD.

Just as important, many studies have shown that investing in education is good for the economy. Dollars spent on education result in increased tax revenues and decreased spending for prisons and welfare benefits, and are good for our nation’s economic recovery.

TAKE ACTION TODAY! CUCPTSA is asking you to please contact your Congressional representatives by e-mail, fax or telephone to express your support for the Education Jobs Fund.

[Suggested Message]

Dear Congressman,

I strongly support the education jobs fund contained in the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2010 (H.R. 4899).

This fund will help school districts and students across the country, and will help avoid the loss of 300,000 education jobs.

Money spent on education is an investment in our future, and will help our nation’s economy recover.

We urge you to vote yes on this bill.
